Falcon and the Winter Sheriff of Babylon

Welcome back! It’s episode 3 and we’ve got all the hip content!

We start off with some news:

  • A few months old at this point, but Bob Wiacek, famed comics illustrator, was recently diagnosed with glaucoma and, as happens way too often in the comics industry, was having issues with the money to cover his expenses. He’s got a GoFundMe if you’re feeling generous and as an added bonus, Brian K. Vaughan purchased an unpublished Alan Moore GEN13 script and (it seems, with Alan’s permission) in January, Vaughan offered to send a digital version of that script along to anyone who donates any amount to Wiacek’s GoFundMe. If the GoFundMe is still running, this is just a good thing to do for someone who’s dealing with some bs and you can get your eyeballs on a piece of weird comix history, so you got that going for you.
  • In the same post, BKV also noted, we’d be getting some new Saga soon. Hooray!
  • Announced at the end of March: BRZRKR gets a movie and anime deal. The Keanusance continues.

Then we chat about Steve’s pick for the comic swap this month, The Sheriff of Babylon (wr. Tom King, ill. Mitch Gerads). This is a post-Iraq war murder mystery/international intrigue tale by one of the best working teams we’ve had the pleasure of reading.

We mention “upcoming” TV and movies, Invincible on Amazon Prime (season 1 already over) and Jupiter’s Legacy on Netflix (begins airing May 7).  After that we’re gabbing about the first 3 episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Disney+’s sophomore Marvel entry.

Then it’s a good old What’s On the Stack? recommendations including:
Low vol. 5: Light Brings Light (Steve)
Branded to Kill (Joe)
Hench (Joe)
The Memory Police (Joe)

And don’t forget to join us next time for our rundown of Mind MGMT issues 1-12 and our thoughts on Invicible.
